public_html folder is gone

In file manager i do not longer have (see) public_html folder! How to I recreate it? Just creating a new folder public_html does not help.

Because its just a symbolic link to /home/user/domains/domain.com/public_html

You can recreate it by going in domain administration and selecting a domain and clicking make default

Note that the redirect at /home/USER/public_html is NOT required for anything; it's simply a shortcut that a user can use to upload to the default domain in his/her account when he/she has multiple domains. Apache always follows the longer /home/USER/domains/EXAMPLE.COM/public_html path.

So how would I recreate the shorter path public_html if I wanted to?

At user level -> domain administration -> select the domain and click "Set as Default"
