Hello,
I have no domain name affiliated with my DA install yet. I wish to use my domain name however I am unsure of this, I will update this once I have bought said domain name with it's name, Until then I will use an alias.
If my domain name is xxx.com and my name servers are ns1.xxx.com and ns2.xxx.com if I have them set up as my name servers in DA is it as simple as making my name servers in my domain control panel at godaddy ns1.xxx.com and ns2.xxx.com or do I have to do something else to get those name servers out there and recognized in the first place?

At Godaddy, you'll have to register ns1/ns2 of your domain name as nameservers.

OK it is easy to miss the option on godaddy!!! Basically for those who don't know you have to set up a NS record or HOST with your Domain Registar to put it simply an A name wont do!

To do this on godaddy simply do the following:
Goto Godaddy.com and log in, You will need your domain name registered obviously to set it up as a nameserver.

After you are logged in goto: Domains and from the drop down list select Manage my domains. When there click on the domain name you want to manage.
From here on my browser I had to scroll down to the bottom of the page until I goto to:
Host Summary

Click on the (add) beside it and add your nameservers, To do this simply add ns1 with a valid IP and ns2 with a valid IP.

I hope this helps others who were having problems with this bit of the process.

I have the instructions below in simply list format as I find it easier to do it when it is explained this way:
  1. Log in.
  2. Go over the Domains bit in the navbar and select My Domains.
  3. You will see a list of your domains, Click on the one you wish to add the custom nameserver too.
  4. You will now be on a Domains Details Page scroll to the bottom of it until you see Host Summary.
  5. Click on the (add) link next to Host summary.
  6. Simply add ns1 in the box and bellow it input your nameserver IP.
  7. Now add ns2 in the same way.
  8. Sit back and smile!

For another domain from another register i have the error;

I need some help please.

Same problem. You've got register your nameservers with the same registrar with whom you've registered the domain in the nameserver name.

The How-To for GoDaddy is above. If you use our registration site let me know and I'll send you the How-To. Otherwise ask your registrar.

Jeff
