Hello there,

I am planning to setup Email Server which is capable of hosting 4000 - 5000 email accounts

i am planning to buy DA and use it for my mail server to setup email accounts and manage the server

however i do have a question

does DA have spam filter feature as well as anti virus feature?

if not, which softwares will u recommend me to buy it ?

what are the system specs required to run the whole system together with the softwares?

does DA assist in doing full installation of the software and support if i go pay the lic on a monthly basics?

DA uses exim as it's MTA, and by default includes, but doesn't turn on, both SpamAssassin and SpamBlocker.

It does not by default install any Anti-Virus feature, though there are some posts on these forums from people using various anti-virus solutions with varying degrees of success.

If asked what I'd recommend for virus protection, I'd like to recommend our VirusBlocker. Only problem is I haven't finished it yet :( .

I won't really comment on system specs because I have no idea of how much email your 4000 - 5000 accounts will probably see, and because your idea of good performance may differ dramatically from mine.

Both virus filtering and VirusBlocker use dramatically more in the way of system resources than SpamBlocker, sometimes even more than SpamAssassin. If I were to be building a system today to do both, I'd probably want a system with at least a gigabyte of memory, and a 2.6 to 2.8 hyperthreading Intel Pentium processor.

Dual 120 Gig SATA drives will round out the picture for me nicely; your mileage may vary.

And if I were only going to do mail hosting on the server I'd probably be more likely to use Vexim rather than DA.

To answer your last question, DA staff will install your DA software and offer you unlimited updates and lifetime email tech support. But they don't support the underlying operating system.

Other support, administration, and full system maintenance options are available from third party support venues, including us.
