Hello,

I'm trying to get me a 64 GB RAM server. Does anyone know how much the large web hosting providers use?

Is it necessary to have as much hardware?

A provider like one.com, what do they use?

Ive no idea.

But, actually im usign (for about 150 domains) a 2x SixCore Intel Xeon with 16GB of RAM and 6x500GB RAID5 Disk.

It is a DELL PowerEdge R610

With 64GB of ram i would suggest about 32GB of swap partition and for sure a Dual (or maybe Quad) CPU at least SIxCore.

I think (but i cannot confirm this in anyway) that with that you will be able to host a large amount of users.

Also, i would suggest to use a SAN as storage system.

Regards

You right zseiter, i was thinking exactly to that recommendetions but i didnt find the url of that page and i did remember badly :)

Regards

Thanks for the feedback! My business begins to grow, what I want to avoid is server load in case of large amounts of clients after I have been marketing company.

The new server is 64 GB RAM and 45 TB Hard Drive connected 1GB at 100 MB internet. The problem is that I dont yet understand what structure using large hosting providers.

When you say "Why do not you buy a month of Their hosting and discover what They use there?" Can I get hardware spesifications in some way? I asked One support, they replied that this was a private matter and would not share info.

I think you got large hosters that either just have many servers, or else clusters. A couple of servers as a mysql cluster and a few mail and apache separated.

Just very large servers, I don't know. If you have 64GB ram but only 1 CPU, things are way out of balance. CPU would be the bottleneck I guess. And as suggested a SAN would be good for io speed.

Easiest is just to get more servers with small setups I guess.

Some details about hardware can be viewed with PHP/PERL/BASH scripts.

If its a private matter then you have no need to host with them. They must be using crappy hardware. Most hosts would be proud to tell their users what hardware they use. There is no reason for it ever to be a secret.

I wondering the same :p

I will buy a domain there and check spsifications, but not sure that I get any results because they have limited the systems properly.
