i think that if directadmin can unzip .rar file it can make diretcadmin file manager professional than befor.

because most of users.upload .rar file and need to extract it.
cpanel can do it without problem but directadmin cant.

Is there a free/GPL unrar program? I found rarlab.com, but that appears to only be a trial license. I might be missing something.

Yes John it is.

Extract, test and view RAR archives.
The unRAR utility is a freeware program, distributed with source code and developed for extracting, testing and viewing the contents of archives created with the RAR archiver version 1.50 and above.
 
If you will add this option, please allow us to disable it if we don't want to install unrar
 
Why do you need to disable it? Then there should be an option to disable extract zip and tar as well...
 
think that some of your clients may upload huge tar (etc) files, and then extract them.
it will bump up your load for a while.

and maybe add an option to define nice level for it. (+10 or higher will be fine).
