relaying denied

i have the following problem:

IN our server i have set up a account with the name gerard when sending mail to that account i always get a relaying denied error like stated below:

The original message was received at Wed, 21 Mar 2007 16:46:06 +0100 from 213.XXX.XXX.XXX.adsl.dyn.edpnet.net [213.xx.xx.xx]

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- <[email protected]>
(reason: 550 relay not permitted)

----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to ns2.dnsshop.org.:

550 5.1.1 <[email protected]>... User unknown <<< 503 valid RCPT command must precede DATA

any idea's
 
You'll get that message if the server doesn't think it's responsible for that account.

yeah found out that all of a sudden there was a cname record for the domain in de dns server pointing to de dns server when i deleted that one then it worked.
