I'm running on a low memory system 128 or 256MB VPS, I haven't decided yet.

Either way I discovered that if I stop the named process I get 50MB of freed ram! And I don't even use directadmin as a name server.

So how do I remove or uninstall named or just stop it from running at startup?

Or is there some other part of directadmin or process that need named?

You can take BIND out of the startup scripts; how you do that depends on the OS distribution you're using; check your OS documentation.

You should also tell DirectAdmin to stop monitoring it or trying to turn it on:

Edit /usr/local/directadmin/data/admin/services.status.
