As the topic title implies.

I know of the backup 'user/create new user/restore backup under new users account' workaround but that doesn't quite work out with 500 accounts users.

Any plans on something like this? An ETA maybe?

Thanks!

Hello,

A user renaming script might not be too difficult, main issue is just changing the system account to a different name, but systems generally have a command do that anyway (eg: usermod -l newuser olduser), then it's just a matter of renaming the users home directory and changing any place that uses the username.

I've already started on the "change_username.sh" script ;)
Not sure if I'll add an interface for it, but might as well while we're at it ;)

I have to agree these would be great additions. I would like to see the whole DA usertools implented into the at least the admin gui. These are essentials tools for running a web hosting business.

Hi
Yes I agree too - being able to offer upgrades from user to reseller would not only be a great addition it is almost 100% necessary for a business to be able to upsell their products.

Great support as usual! When can we welcome this feature to our controlpanels?

:)

What's cooking with this feature John? At the time you made a remarkable gesture by implying you started the work on it just then, but until now i don't see any fruits of that labour :)

Hello,

The change_username.sh script has been added to the scripts directory a few versions ago. I've set it as beta and will add the interface for it once we get some feedback on it. (need to make sure it works first ;))

John

It's been quite a while since there has been any update on this. Is this going to be added to the interface? If so, is there any ETA on it being added?

Adam

As John has written, he's waiting for some feedback.

Has anyone used the script?

Does it work? Are there any problems?

Jeff

I tried it today, seemed to work fine...

However if you decide to use it you should be aware that it will also change
the usernames of your databases (remember that they are created as username_XYZ), so be aware that your
php/database apps may stop working...
