Hi,

A friend of my uses our hostingserver for his and his clients web projects. He uses a lot of open source software which, in the end, can take up a lot of webspace. And when installatron updates your software automatically it first creates backups of the entire site. The space these backups take are counting for the entire webspace which leeds to less inbox space. And because the clients don't get access to there DA account, they can't see how much space they have left.

There is an option in the e-mail settings to set a amount of space the inbox has. But this is not a guaranteed amount of MB's. I.e when I have a package containing 1300MB's of webspace and set the inbox size to 1000MB and the user creates 600mb's of data in his public_html folder the user can only use 700mb of inbox space.

I would like to see an option where i can set an amount of MB's the public_html folder can handle. As soon as the user exceeds this amount he can't create or upload any more data to the public_html folder.
Another option is to create a separate disk or folder for e-mail which has a guaranteed amount of space. But I think the first option is easier to build in.

This appears to be related to your previous post concerning setting email space limits. You raise some interesting points, but would you really want Installatron updates to fail?

If you're disallowing client access to DirectAdmin (I won't question your business plan) shouldn't it be up to you to allow them access to important information such as how much space they're using?

Are other DirectAdmin admins interested in this feature? Conversation encouraged.

All the hosting packages have the setting not to suspend when the user reaches their limit. So the backups will always work.
I now set a plan for saving backups in Installatron, this will save a lot of time an space.

Most of my customers are one-man businesses with a very low level of computing skills. Thats why I don't give them access to DA.
But you're right about my task to inform a customer about their space. But when you have 100+ users, that will almost be a fulltime job.
Sadly there's no other way to inform a user about their usage. The only place where they can see this is DirectAdmin.

Have you tested to verify that if you set to not suspend at limit, then system level quotas won't be set for that user? Because if quotas are enabled on an OS level for the partition containing /home, and they're set for a user, whether or not suspension is set, the user will still not be able to add any files owned by his user once he's reached his quota.
