Hi Guys,

Simple question here, I think :D

I have a server running with 2 IPs, and would like to setup a Reseller to use their own NS1.reseller.com and NS2.reseller.com as their name servers. However I don't want to assign new IPs to this reseller, I would like them to use the existing 2 IPs on the server that are used for the main reseller account.

So the short question is, is there a way to assign the same IPs to multiple resellers?

All the threads I found regarding this were from back 2003/2004.

Regards,

.Joel

You cannot assign the same ips to multiple users unless you mark them as shared.

ok so what I am trying to achieve is....

ns1.myhost.com 111.111.111.111
ns2.myhost.com 111.111.111.112

ns1.myhosting.com 111.111.111.111
ns2.myhosting.com 111.111.111.112

ns1.mywebhost.com 111.111.111.111
ns2.mywebhost.com 111.111.111.112

If that makes sense....

How can I share the IPs? Is there tutorial for this?

You have to login as admin level.

Go to ip manager.
Remove the ip from the reseller.
Select the ip and mark it as shared.
Then I think you can reassign it to the resellers.

Shared IP can not be assigned to any reseller. Shared IP can not be removed from reseller. You can assign/remove only Free IPs.

You scheme can work fine, it really does not matter what domain are you're using for DNS servers, until this is not reverse DNS for any IP sub-net.

Make sure that all your NS1 server point to 111.111.111.111. And all your NS2 server point to 111.111.111.112. And your resellers have proper NS servers set as default servers for their customers.

Note, that will work, but it's not the best way to go. Because there's a real need to have secondary DNS on different hardware box in other sub-net. It's not a good way to cut down expenses.
