Hello

I saw 2 options, one my VPS and on my Directadmin

what is the difference between restarting from VPS and Directadmin?

Which should I go with?

Directadmin will do a soft-reboot and in your VPS control panel, you may have an option to perform a hard-reboot.
Both of them will do the same (reboot your server), directadmin sends a reboot command to the server, while hard-reboot it's like you click on the power button of the server.

And to be more clear:

You shuld never use a hardware reboot (hard reboot, VPS reboot) if a software reboot will work, because hard reboots can cause file corruption. Always try a software reboot first, and then only reboot hardware (power or vps) if a software reboot doesn't work or if you can't get access to do a software reboot.

You've already got the answers. One thing I'd like to add, whether or not it is a hard reboot depends on a type of Virtualization you have there: OpenVZ, XEN, KVM, etc. So to get more concrete answer on how VPS CP reboots your server you should either ask your hosting company or check with documentation for the particular VPS CP.
