Restore Backup default settings

This is a tiny nit that gets me so often it's embarrassing. When I go to Admin Backup/Transfer to use the Restore Backup function I most always forget to switch from "Use the IP stored in the backup" to "Use the IP from the list:" so what happens is DA tried to restore all the files I have selected but ends up not being able to. Then I get the message titled "An error occurred during the restore."

Wouldn't most admins prefer that the "Use the IP from the list:" be the default? I know I would. :D

Thanks,
Rick

Hello,

I'd rather not, I like the way it is now with "Use the IP stored in the backup" selected by default.

In most cases if you need to change to restore a backup with the IP from the list, you need to select the IP you want, so there is nothing difficult to check the option "Use the IP from the list".

Okay, so perhaps it should be coded as a "sticky" radio button that defaults to the last choice selected. In your case you are probably restoring local accounts more often than doing transfers. In our case we are more often transferring in new DA resellers from other hosts and definitely do not want to "Use the IP stored in the backup".

there is nothing difficult to check the option "Use the IP from the list".

And there's nothing difficult in turning off your turn signal indicator after making a turn in your car, but it's nicer to have it done automatically. I want my computers and servers to work for me to the extent that they can because I'm already working 16 hour days trying to keep up with everything.

Any tiny enhancement that makes my job easier is a good thing. :)

OK, you've got right in your particular case. So do I in my particular case. Since I'm not working for JBMC Software, and not a choice maker either, I've only shared my view on the subject. So if John gives us an option to add into directadmin.conf to decide what should be the default it would make both of us and others as well happy, right?

Yes indeed, I agree with you 100%. :)
