Restore backup WITHOUT DA

Hello people,
I used to have a site with DA on it, and before I switched over to my server (doesn't have DA) I backed everything up. The databases + The entire file system.
When I try to unpack everything, I'm coming up with errors when I try to view the site. Do I have to restore backup with DA, or can I use the files that were there?

You can of course unpack the tarball under any system you want; even on an MS Windows desktop with WinZip or similar.

But if you're not using DA then you have to figure out where all the files go.

You don't say where you're restoring to but you should probably download the tarball to your local machine, untar it with WinZip or similar, and upload your site using ftp.
