Hi,

We moved a customer from another hosting provider, also running DA, recently. We received the customer's DirectAdmin backup from their previous host and did a restore on our server, however it would seem that it did not correctly restore the customer MX record settings. This client's email is hosted by everyone.net and the MX record had been set accordingly. However in the restore it was reset to the local server and the mx record no longer existed.

Any ideas?

Hello,

The old zone file *is* saved in the backup, but is not restored. The default zone template is used instead, so he'll need to reset the MX settings himself. (Or you can mually go into the backup and copy it by hand, but the IP's would all be incorrect)

Set the MX record to read:

sitemail.everyone.net. MX 0 your.domain.com.

for everyone mail to work.

the user interface is at:

http://user.mail.everyone.net

If the account was setup prior to early 2003 you will also have to enter:

mail IN CNAME siteurl.everyone .net.

Hello,

I am ok on setting it up and everything. My concenr concerned that the restore didnt restore the MX record in the first place.

How would we know that the had customer setup there own mx records so that we could advise them that these will need to be rentered?
