Reverse DNS

Hi,

I am trying to set up reverse DNS in the direct admin control panel so that I can send mail to an aol email server without it been rejected, but it doesnt seem to work.

For the domain I have added :

Name Type Value
IP address PTR www.domainname.com

at the dns admin screen for the domain but it doesnt seem to work. Also tried <ip address>.in-addr.arpa.

DA servers can serve reverse DNS, but the only way the internet will see the reverse entries is if your upstream (connectivity) provider has delegated the reverse DNS authority specifically to your nameserver.

And usually they don't, so you'll have to ask your upstream provider to provide it for you.

This is only a generic answer because you didn't see fit to include your real domain information and no specific information could be found.
