reverse iplookup ipv6 [SOLVED]

Hi all,

Does anyone of you know if this option http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=21 wil work for ipv6 ?

If you now insert an ipv6 addres it try's to swap the ip backwords but also translate it to xx.xx.xx.xx format so you could say do it manualy but does it work can it give problems ??

So i kinda wondering on your thinking about it

You could always try it and see if it works.

Remember that you can only host your own rDNS if your upstream provider of IP#s gives you authority for rDNS.

Hi Jeff,

A well gona see first have to install a test server im not really wanna do on live systems.

Ik know we need authority

That's the guide that was used before it could be done through the interface.
Very first words of that guide:
Any modern version of DA will be able to do this through the interface.
Go to: Admin Level -> DNS Administration

Scroll to the bottom to the "Add Zone" section.

Enter your information normally:

domain name: server.hostname.com
ip: 1.2.3.4
ns1: ns1.hostname.com
ns2: ns2.hostname.com

where server.hostname.com is the hostname of your server.
The IP is your server IP (license IP)
and ns1/ns2 can be any NS your server uses.

Click the "Create Reverse IP Lookup" checkbox, then click "Add".
which can be done with an IPv6, as of 1.40.2.

Let me know if you're referring to something else.

John

Nope refering to that, details i have sended over mail becouse it aint working like it should in my opinion

Thanks to John its solved apperantly my da version was not update to 1.40.2 or higher altho in the webinterface it did said 1.40.3
