Has anyone gotten DA to work with RHEL 4.2 (32- or 64-bit)?

We have been encountering DA install failures on a 32-bit 4.2 server hosted at SoftLayer (this is the only Linux platform they support). DA technical support reports that 4.2 is not supported yet - I wanted to start a thread to see if anyone has gotten this config to work.

We've been supporting DA on CentOS 4.2 for some time; I'll let DA staff know.

We build with any CentOS 4 CDRoms, and then we update to 4.2 with yum update.

Tell us about the specific failures you're getting and we can probably help.

Hello,

We have 4.x listed as supported, 4.2 would fall under that category. I don't recall saying we don't support 4.2, so if it's posted somewhere, let me know where and I'll change it.

If you are running a 32-bit OS, use the 4.x option when ordering.
If you are running a 64-bit OS, use the 4.x-64-bit option.

The actual bits of your processor doesn't matter to DA.. only what OS you've got (ie: 32-bit OS with a 64-bit processor, you'd need the regular 4.x binaries, not the 64-bit binaries).

thanks for the fast response. The note that I had received from our server mgmt company (they have been excellent, but I will let them identify themselves if they like) on 3/3 stated the following:

"Well, DA support got back to me... the other DA tech told me that DA supported RHEL 4.2 but once SoftLayer installed that system and the DA installer failed on it I contacted them again and another guy from DA told me today that DA will only work on 4.0."

I have left a message with them to join this discussion and detail the actual error condition that they are encountering.

And Jeff, thanks for the offer for assistance. We will keep you in mind for this and possibly future issues we may have. Much appreciated.

Here is a resolution summary for this thread:

yes, there seemed to be a bit of 'he said, he said' about whether this configuration was supported. Needless to say, it is.

After receiving an indication that this was an unsupported configuration, we were misled from what turned out to be the true cause - an ugly segfault in DA install that was occurring because the IP license had the wrong OS defined within it.

DA support was extremely responsive and actually conducted the final install to ensure that everything was okay. I do not have enough good things to say about DA support - they were exceptional!
