rhel 5

CentOS5 beta is out now, but I don't work on Beta releases.

CentOS5 5.0 should be out by the end of next week, then we can get a testbed running over the weekend.

If John can get me a copy for RHEL5 by then (or if I just change the redhat-release file to make it look compatible) we can do a trial installation on the 26th or so.

Personally I think this is an aggressive timeframe; it was over a month before we were happy with DA on CentOS4.

Or does someone need it even more quickly?

Jeff

I didn't even know it was out.. I don't like working on beta OS's either. I'm going to wait until it's released as stable before even starting on it. (sorry smtalk, no such luck). I'll actually be testing with CentOS 5 once it's stable, not Enterprise 5. (same thing, for all intensive purposes)

i was wanting to run it. because i really love the virtualization. but i know for a fact that DA didnt run out ot the box on centos 4.4 64 bit. so i dont want to push the developers. i rather have a good and well tested DA on centos/rhel 5 64 bit.

Freakie - the virtualisation is the coolest part of it, though you need to get AS to get the unlimited side of it

John - if you want a proper license to play with let me know. We won't be using Centos 5 on most of the shared servers moving forward, as RedHat's tech support simply rocks :)

An ETA on RHE5 support would be nice

i know. we just were invited by RH to join their partnership program. Then we will become a RH hosting partner in the netherlands.

with standard RH5 you get 5 licenses, 4 for the virtual machines and 1 for the main server.

as is unlimited. you are only limited by what the machine can take :P

John already wrote about his time frame, and that it depends on when CentOS will be available.

If you want to offer John a license, you should write him directly at the support address.

I don't know how helpful it will be to him if he can't keep the license for himself, since he uses the build machine each time he creates any update. But you can certainly offer it to him :) .

Ok, I'm trying to find out about being a Red Hat Hosting Partner. Their webpage has an extension number that doesn't lead to anything except a bunch of other extensions, none of which have anything to do with webhosting.

Does anyone have a contact number?

Jeff

I installed DirectAdmin on RHEL5. Its works. In license i used OS Fedore 5.

CentOS 5 schedule

Final CentOS 5 is currently scheduled for release April 9th at 23:59GMT :)

when we can expect DA for CentOS 5? I really need it for cool and easy vitualization feature...

Does it work out-of-box or with some tweaks and modifications? NukLeoN, please post more details...

Hello, from out-of-box, of course, no  .

I installed DA manually, use my head and hands :)
For example, rpm files, which were collected for Fedore Core 5, not worked in rhel5.

I have contacts for the Irish / UK offices....

If you email me ([email protected]) I can pass your details onto them and they should be able to move it internally
I'm sorry, Michele, i should have posted earlier that I've made a contact, gotten a price quote, and am considering the option.

Thanks.

Jeff
