SATA and IDE HDD on the same server

i am getting a new server for my another DA installation.

I will have a 1 x SATA HDD as primary drive and 2 x IDE for backup purposes.

my provider did not recommend the above installation because Linux will break it.

having a drive in SATA and another IDE would break the UDMA, they would basically roll back to PIO mode

if the above quote is true?

I think we have a misunderstanding here, Danny... what I meant is that if I were you I'd try to get an answer on another forum.

I suppose I could spend the time to post somewhere, wait for answers, and then post here.

But I'm not the one with the issue.

Is there a reason why you need someone else to do it for you?
