Beste DA users,

Im going to use DA for my server but i would like some comments first. I need an secure server for it.

1. Are the packages/services DA comes with secure versions (latest versions)?
2. What OS is the best; keeping security/uptodate in mind?
3. Debian and redhat/centos have like auto update progs (aptget, yum, etc...) do they work with DA ?

Hope to hear you're comments and advises soon.

Thanks in advance.

1. Don't rely on DA for security, just check the programs yourself and update if needed..
It takes 5 minutes to find out.. No hassle.
2. OS is mostly users preference, the most used OS's are CentOS, Debian and Gentoo.. I myself use CentOS, but it's because im familiar with the commands and like working with it.

3. Yum works fine with DA if you exclude the program's that DA uses. You can use yum for everything else.. just don't update apache, exim, sql etc. with yum..

rotje knor :)

Okay, je zegt niet de services updaten van DA.
Maar als daar nou bugs inzitten of nieuwe versies van zijn?

komt DA dan met nieuwe compatible versies? of moet je dan gaan kloten?

Ik ben debian freak btw.. dus apt-get is vrij simpel dan (like yum)

Thanks, bedankt he :)

No, you have to update them yourself.

Every (linux) OS can be secure, it's a personal choice. I prefer Debian. DA supports Redhat, Debian, FreeBSD...

They work great, but exclude the packages needed by DA. You can updated them with the update script from Wael.
