Hi all, I'm new to DA but have been using 42go for a few years on a RH9 server. Progeny stopped their security updates service for RH9 on 31 December and so I was forced to upgrade OS and the time was about right to upgrade hardware too.

I have one initial question. My new server runs CentOS 4. Should I use up2date or yum to keep it patched or does DA provide updates that incorporate the latest patches?

Naturally, when I install MailScanner and SpamAssassin I'll keep them up to date.

Just to answer my own question, CentOS recommend yum over up2date and I see the yum.conf file contains excludes:

exclude=apache* httpd* mod_* mysql* MySQL* da_* *ftp* exim* sendmail* php*

I guess DA handles these packages but I'll need to handle the rest.

Search these forums for a better list of file excludes.

Yum will handle everything installed on the server by RPM except for programs / packages listed in the exclude line.

And customapache will update everything in /usr/local/directadmin/customapache every time you run it.
