Dear Folks,

My company has been discussing the possibility of outsourcing our webserver hardware needs to a remote dedicated server. We are looking for a server that has all of the normal bells and whistles... such as : daily backups, redundancy (especially with regards to bandwidth) the ability to install DA, RedHat 9 or Fedora core 2 or 3, at least a gig of RAM, at least one Pentium 4 3ghz processor, at least 80gb (prefer 120gb) serial HD, LAMP environment, and so on.

We currently host around 70 domains and need a block of at least 50 IP's. Please make your best recommendation based upon your personal "real life" experience... not the latest banner ads that are always in your face, so to speak. I don't mean to sound rude with that statement... but I think you know what I mean :) Feel free to reply to me here or through my forum email account.

Best Regards... TIA!

Rob... I REALLY appreciate your thoughts on this subject. My company will very likely go with your "best" solution because of the level of service we require.

Thanks Again!!

What solution did you come to, and are you happy? Our needs are similar.

thanks,

I have 2 dedicated servers, from 2 different providers. One I wouldn't recommend, ever. These are the people I got my DA server from. I won't recommend them because my server keeps rebooting like no other, for no apparent reason, and their admins seem incompetent as to telling me why.
The other provider, which I will recommend until I'm blue in the face is Xilogix.Net. I know the CEO to this company, and they are, without a shadow of a doubt, *the* nicest people in the world. My server's been up 100%, their prices are extremely reasonable, and they got a techie on the phone 24/7 if you have any problems. They have pacakages on their site for servers which you can just buy, but you can maybe negotiate with their sales people over the phone, or adjust the specs of your server to what you require.

(Note: I have no affiliation with Xilogix, nor am I paid for referrals etc. I genuinely think they're one of the best dedi providers in the US :) )
