set defaults for user.conf

How do I set defaults for /usr/local/directadmin/data/users/username/user.conf for new account/users? For example I want to have awstats=1 in directadmin.conf but set awstats=0 in the user.conf for new users so awstats is turned off by default. That way awstats is available for users to turn on if they want, but it's turned off by default for new users to save resources.

Is there a template or somewhere to set values to be entered into /usr/local/directadmin/data/users/username/user.conf when a new user is created? Thanks

Can anyone help with this? I'm sure there must be an easy way to set user.conf default settings? Or is the only way to use a hook script such as user_create_post_confirmed.sh to change the settings in user.conf?

We're not novices with running servers, but being new to DA we're finding it hard to find details for some quite simple DA-specific stuff! Thanks for any help with solving this.
