I'm a noob to directadmin and server administration in general.

The URL to my site is: www.e90post.com and my name server IP's are: 66.246.192.168 and 66.246.192.169.

How do I set directadmin so that when someone types the server name IP #'s into their URL, it will bring them to www.e90post.com?

Currently when I type the ip#, it says:
This IP is being shared among many domains. To view the domain you are looking for, simply enter the domain name in the location bar of your web browser.

Any help/direction would be most appreciated.

Hi,

The main server IP is allways considered as shared among any domains. You can host any number of domains under this IP.

If you have another IP, you can assign it to a particular user.

First, go to IP management from DA admin level. Then chose a free IP (not the servers main IP) and assign it to the reseller account you will use to create your user. Choose the user name of this reseller from the dropdown list. If this accont has been created by the admin ou will be created by the admin, than assign this IP to the admin.

Create this user. Make sure that he has only one domain name on his account (enter 1 on Domains filed on the creation form).

On the creation from, clic on "customize" button. Then on the top of the form, you will notice a dropdown list. It contains the servers IP and the IP you want to assign to your customer. Choose thos IP. You did it!

Thanks, so this will make it so that someone can type the IP # instead of www.e90post.com?

My main goal is to set it up so that someone can just type the IP # into their browser's URL field. Thanks.

Thanks.

My main IP is: 209.123.181.87
My two name server IP's are: 66.246.192.168 and 66.246.192.169
These are the only IP's listed under my IP management section of directadmin.

I don't think I have any more IP's. How do I get another IP to assign? Do I just make one up?

You can't assign your ns ips to a specific user. Are you a server admin or reseller?

If you are a reseller, you need to contact the server admin and ask him to rent you a new free ip.

Max2000...

No you can't just assign the NS IPs to your customers. If you noticed they are on a totally different IP range, it is highly unlikely that these IPs are assigned to the server of jwocky.

jwockey....

No you can't just make up an IP, if we all did that how would people know how to find your server amongst 500 identical IP addresses. The correct procedure is to ask you Hosting provider to assign an additional IP to your server. Then add it under IP management and then asign it to your customer.

resolveit : thank you, this is what I said. You can't assign ns ip to any specific user :-)

I beg to differ because as long as the IP is available on the server you can assign it to a user, Named will by default answer on all IP's of the server.
