Hello everyone!

I just got access do Direct Admin trough MXRoute and I'm looking to set up an email account.

Unfortunately, I cannot see most of the entries that, apparently, should be showing up. Only the 5 that I show on the screenshot show up.

I don't know if I need to provide any additional information, but if so, let me know! This is the first time I've tried to do something like this, but even though I've seen several tutorials explaining how to set up DNS, the records always appear to be predefined in said tutorials.

Thank you.

PS: I apologise in advance because I realised I should have posted in the DNS section. I can't delete the post, but if some admin could put the thread there that would be great :)

You mean as your host?
If yes and you don't have a directadmin license, you have to contact him or his company for support.

This forum is only for support to Directadmin license holders, so admins, not for hosting customers.

If you are an admin, then contact hostgator, because at this moment your domain is pointing to their nameservers and they have issues, see this:

Also, -never- user CNAME records for your mail MX records.

Basically, I used hostgator for purchasing the domain, and MXroute to setup the email. After purchasing the service at MXroute, they provided me with login details for DirectAdmin.

This probably means that I don't have a license? I guess that would make me hosting customer, but I'm not sure.

I did change some DNS records at HostGator (as some of the tutorials stated), which might lead to some of the mistakes pointed out in the link that you sent here. I already contacted support to reset the DNS records on HostGator to default settings.

Login details for Directadmin. Do you have admin login and SSH login, rented a server or VPS somewhere? If not, you're not an admin.
So in that case, you should contact the person you rented your host space from to host your website, probably MXroute.

If you are an admin, so rented a server/vps, then have a look about what I wrote about CNAME records for MX.
Also seems the hostgater DNS are not fixed yet, but that can take some time.

Hello,

As a client of MXroute myself, allow me to explain the situation.

MXroute is an email only service provider which uses DirectAdmin as the admin control panel for the service. Due to this many functions of DirectAdmin are hidden.

They hide most of the DNS records from view as they are not relevant to the service as using them will ultimately interfere with a client's existing website hosted elsewhere, as DirectAdmin would generally act as the sole hosting and DNS source for a domain. For instance, as noted on the renamed "DNS Management" page, clients should ONLY use the DKIM record displayed on that page, and nothing else.

Please refer to the [MXroute Important Account Information] email received at the time of service provisioning and also https://mxroutedocs.com for complete instructions regarding setting up their service.

I hope that this helps!

Thanks to both of you! I already contacted MXroute and they confirmed me this:

I also just deleted the CNAME records that I added for MX. The email is now working fine.
