SFTP to specific directory won't work

I need to give access to a software vendor to troubleshoot some script issues. I want to restrict them to a specific directory.

I created a custom FTP user but when I go to test it I always connect but access is denied for the user.

The details are:
Created user: [email protected] with a secure password
Gave or restricted that user to: Path: /home/admin/domains/mydomain.com/public_html/Folder/

Where should I look for the problem?

Any firewall installed? Check DA BFM (bruteforce monitor) for his IP.

Just whatever DA installed.

It works fine with ftp on port 21. And I may let them use that since the account will be deleted as soon as they are done.

How do you use SFTP? Do you connect to 22 SSH port for SFTP?

Yes. Winscp on 22. Should I or this user do differently?

Additional FTP logins won't be accepted if you try SFTP on port 22. If you need SFTP for additional and/or main FTP-accounts you will need use ProFTPD and built it with a SFTP support.

After this vendor visit I can't imagine why I would need it. My sites will be the only sites on the vps. So, for now I'll put that on hold.
