SHMMAX set to 128megs, eaccelerator still won't allow more than 32?

I hope I'm posting this in the right place, I'm a new user. I have direct admin and used custom build to get php 5.24 I believe and I just got eaccelerator enabled. I can't use 0.9.6.1 because they removed the with shared memory option which I need in order for joomla to see it.

The problem is I can't make eaccelerator take more than 32 megs of memory, I've read for the past 4 hours tutorials on how to increase the kernals max shm size which I have it's 128megs, I also have the php max post size as 128megs and the max memory size to 128 megs, and regardless of what I put for eaccelerators shm size it will not go above the default of 32 megs. I have a server with 1 gig of ram and I just seem to be wasting it, I have 500+ megs of ram free so I'd like to get eaccelerator using more memory rather than caching everything on disk.

Anyone have any idea's?
