OK I'm just about ready to dive in, but I have one quick question.

- I have a clean linux box, connected directly to my T-1 line
- I have purchased a package from my ISP that gives 5 static IP addresses

OK but here is the noob question:

How would my one server use the 5 different IP addresses? I thought a computer can only have one IP?

I keep reading about adding different IP addresses under your DA control panel, but I have never really understood how that works. Does my ISP say “OK here are your 5 IP addresses..”

OK sorry for the silly question - any help would be great!

Thanks

Only in a windows world :p

Basically. Once logged into your controlpanel, you can go to the IP Management page and add the IP and subnet for all the ip addresses that your isp gave you.

Jon,

MS Windows has been capable of answering on multiple IP#s since at least WinNT. I believe the tools for it exist only in IIS, though.
