I have a new domain xyz.com that I want to always redirect to abc.com/xyz.php. I have been told to use site redirection but I do not see how to do this under the user level for the domain.

Both xyz.com and abc.com both resolve to the same ip. The Goal is to create a new domain name that will land on a specific page on my existing site to improve search engine results.

abc.com is setup as P:abc.com under xyz.com

Any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks

redirect howto

What I need is the specific steps to do this redirect.

The way I read how redirect works is that when someone goes to the url: currentdomain.com/newdomain.php they are then redirected to the actual newdomain.com which is not what I need.

Under the use redirect control panel I see:

Line 1: Local URL Path: currentdomain.com/[edit field] where I enter the newdomain.php

This is where I want the new domain to go but that does not seem to be what it does.

Line 2: Redirect Type 301 - Permanent

Line 3: Destination URL: eg: http://www.newdomain.com

--> I want someone to enter newdomain.com and go to currentdomain.com/newdomain.php.

Please advise.

I have a new domain xyz.com that I want to always redirect to abc.com/xyz.php

1. Add the domain xyz.com. If you have previously added it as a pointed you need to delete it first.

2. Go to the panel for xyz.com
3. Go to Site redirection
4. Local path is simply / because you want everything for xyz.com to be redirected.
5. Destination URL is abc.com/xyz.php

site redirect

I think part of the problem I am having is creating xyz.com correctly.

I attempted to create the domain under user - domain setup. When I add the domain xyz.com I get the following error.
-
Error Creating Domain
Details
Parent directory does not allow write, or one of the directories didn't allow search (execution) permission
Trouble with symlink : File exists
Error Creating Domain
-
I then go to admin - DNS Admin and the domain is there. So I select it and delete it.

When I go under the user -file manager the xyz.com is there next to the original abc.com so it is not truly gone.

--> Do I go directly into the file manager and remove all the xyz.com files or is there an admin function that will do that?

Your explanation makes sense if I can access xyz.com and redirect under that domain. I just can't get there.

--> To be clear: To create xyz.com I go to user admin-domain setup-add another domain- then enter xyz.com. I presume at the point xyz.com will show up as a domain I can select and then do the redirect.

Thanks for your help.
