Hello,

I recently updated DirectAdmin with a custombuild. Exim was also updated. Now mail is delivered with a (more or less) 15 minute delay. Previously mail was delivered instant.

I guess this is a configuration issue but I don't now where to look. I searched online but didn't find a solution to this (simple?) problem.

This is what is installed at the moment:

Apache 2.2.14
DirectAdmin 1.34.0
Exim 4.67
MySQL 5.0.67
Named 9.3.4
ProFTPd 1.3.1
sshd
dovecot 1.2.6

If you have any suggestions please let me know. If I have to post configuration details, please let me now from which conf file.

Thanks,

Carlo

DirectAdmin updates to exim shouldn't include any code to cause a delay. This is often a problem with DNS resolution. Verify that you can resolve the domain name of the sender from your server.

Also check your /var/log/exim/mainlog.

Hi Jeff,

I tried resolving some of the domainnames with nslookup, and they all resolve. /var/log/exim/mainlog has grown to over 5 MB.

Jeff,

there are messages in the queue which are over 50 hours old. These messages are not frozen. When I select them manually from DA Mail Queue Administration and click retry, they get delivered.

I guess system maintenance is a true job (and calling) after all ;)
