have just reinstalled my server from FC2 -> CentOS 4.2 and kernel 2.6.5-1.358smp -> 2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp
however i found that the server is running much slower than before, estimated from 2 - 5 times (the difference compares with that before reinstallation is obvious)
and whatever command i run the avg loading will "jump"

i did a search and found that many ppl using kernel 2.6.9-22.0.2 is facing an iowait problem and result in loading jump
when they upgrade to the lastest version (2.6.15.4), the problem is fixed
so i tried upgrading the kernel to 2.6.15.4 and even downgrade it to 2.6.9-11.ELsmp, but its just the same

is there any way to figure out the reason ??
is it related to DA?
as i have another server that is running CentOS4.1 with kernel 2.6.9-11.ELsmp and it runs just great without DA, so i believe that it may be caused by hardware or version 4.2 or DA

It's unlikely that all your userspace programs could be causing the problem.

It's more likely that you're adding the new kernels but still running the buggy ones.

Have you asked on the CentOS-users list?

That would be a great place to start.
