Hello,

I'm using outlook express on my computer. Now i'm trying to sent e-mails to an other domain on the same server and to an domain on an other server. both e-mail adresses are from me that i did try. The server I use is a standard DirectAdmin server on Debian 3.1.

I get an error like the error below (e-mail adresses are changed, first the DUTCH erro (original), after that a translation to ENGLISH):

ENGLISH:
Could not sent the message because 1 off the email adresses is refused by the server. The refused e-mail adress is [email protected]. Subject 'test', Account: 'mail.streamservice.nl', Server: SMTP, Reaction from server: '550', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server error: 550, Errornumber: 0x800CCC79

Please note English isn't my first language and this is why there could be some mistakes in the translation, i'm sorry for that.

Thank you for your time and reaction in advance. If someone need more information that is not a problem (I will give almost all details, only no login information).

Your server didn't recognize you as an authorized sender, so it accepted the email to an account on the server, but refused to relay to an account off the server.

This is correct behavior.

By Default DirectAdmin will accept your email and relay for you if you try after receiving email from an account on the server.

Unfortunately MS products always send first and then receive, so you'll get this error.

The way to resolve it is to immediately try again, or set Outlook Express to use authenticated SMTP (sorry, I don't use Outlook Express and don't know how to do that).

It is now possible to sent e-mails to an other server, but sending an e-mail to an other account on the same server still gives the same error. How can I fix this?

If the domain is properly setup and exim.conf hasn't been changed then the behavior you report shouldn't be possible. Perhaps you should have DA support look at the problem.
