Dear friends.

I have a domain registered in Godaddy but using a mail server via DA.
My mail server I received like: mail.franetz.de

I did some tests but found an error in that

dmarc franetz.de No DMARC Record found
mx franetz.de No DMARC Record found
dns franetz.de SOA Expire Value out of recommended range
SPF record: v=spf1 a mx ip4:198.251.yy.zz ip4:198.251.yy.zz ~all

even though I am getting the following error on some corporate emails

Reporting-MTA: dns; d7.my-control-panel.com
Action: failed
Final-Recipient: rfc822;[email protected]
Status: 5.0.0

Some Emails can be getting through while others are not.
Could someone please help me? I am new to this DNS matter.

Thank you and best regards
Adeel

Hello there Adee.

DMARC is no issue, you are not required to have a DMARC.

SPF record: v=spf1 a mx ip4:198.251.yy.zz ip4:198.251.yy.zz ~all
Why is that the same ip twice? That only needs to be in there once.

You host your domain on secureserver.net so if you want to send mail from your website too, then the spf record should have that 160.153.x.x ip too.

As for your problem, that is indeed a bit odd.
Best you can do is visit https://www.mail-tester.com/ and follow the procedure. You should get a 10/10 or at least 9/10.
The result will tell you want is going wrong, you can take a screenshot of the result and post it here if it's other dan 9/10 or higher.

Hi Richard,
Many thanks for your swift reply and help.
As I am a newbie with hosting I don't know why duplicate IPs are mentioned in the SPF record. I just grabbed this from the MX record under my DA DNS management. Yes it is
As per advice, it should be like SPF record: v=spf1 a mx ip4:198.251.yy.zz ip4:160.153.y.z ~all ?

I ran the test and got > Your lovely total: 10/10

Thank you and best regards
Adee

Yes that woud be enough.
If this is only present in Directadmin DNS, you should copy that line to your registrar dns. So with GoDaddy, it has to be the same in there.

As for the score, the 10/10 is great.
Also the rDNS/PTR record is correct, and the ip's are not on a blacklist, so all should be fine.

This means that either the corporate mails which are refusing your mail have a spamfilter too strict, or they are using some blacklist which isn't public (there ware one or two) or they have misconfigured something themselves.

dns franetz.de SOA Expire Value out of recommended range
In which test did you get this result? Because from what I can find, the SOA record is correct and within specifications.

Thank you for the confirmation. Yes, I will add GoDaddy as well.

it was before I ran the test.

I wasn't aware of this before, but some corporate email domains seem so strict that they either refuse any emails or send them directly to spam filters. This is particularly concerning when you're sending inquiries to multiple companies and have no way of knowing whether they have received your email or if it ended up in their junk or spam folder.

Do you have any advice on how to handle this situation? I've only realized this issue with DA, as I haven't had any problems with another hosting provider like A2 Hosting.

Thank you and best regards
Adee

Hold on. Are you not an admin? Because DA is no hosting. DA is just a panel used for hosting.
We have no way to see what your hoster has done, and this forum is only for Directadmin license holders, so admins, not for hosting customers.

So you have to ask your host for support next time.

This is not a DA issue, so your host has to help you with this as it involves checking Exim logfiles for example, which is not accessible for customers. So without that kind of access we can't help you further. Which is also reason why this forum is only for DA license holders.
If your host has issues finding the problem, he can ask support here.

Or in other words, if you are the admin of your DA server, check your Exim logs. ;)
