Sorry for the very undescriptive title.

My first question is to do with /var/vartmp. I am not sure what the purpose of it is. I know /tmp is for temporary files that are not expected to survive a system restart, /var/tmp is for temporary files that are expected to survive a system restart however the purpose of /var/vartmp eludes me.

My second question is to do with /tmp acting as /var/tmp and how I would go about "unlinking" them. I am wanting to mount /var/tmp as a separate file system as I have /tmp as a tmpfs file system.

My third question is to do with phpMyAdmin. When ever I try to assess it I get a blank page with no HTML. I have also tryed to search Google for a solution however I cannot find one.

It's always better in terms of getting usable replies, to use use separate threads, posted in applicable subforums, since only a few of us read every message, and sometimes we don't get to it as quickly as we'd like (as for me, I'm suffering a bad cold and have been resting as much as possible).

I, too, believe it to be an error; i have no idea how it got on your server. Does it have contents? If so, then something may link to it, in which case you should delete it and create it as a link to /var/tmp.

Simply delete the link and recreate it any way you want.
