spams emails

hiya im getting 50 and more spam mails each day, how do i secure my vps to stop 99% of the spam from coming in as i understand theres no way to completely block spams.

I have enabled SpamAssasain but its not much of use even when i apply strict options on it.

Any idea??

Setup Spamblocker and also use nolisting.

Thanks for the help, but im looking for open source plugins, do you know of any of these besides spamassain? btw how do i check n update version for spamassasin?

If you don't employ SpamBlocker and nolisting you'll be getting enough spam to overload your VPS. Think of it this way: what's a better way to eliminate spam: to block spammers before they send you spam? Or to accept all the spam and then run it through a perl script to see if it's spam and to figure out what to do with it?
