spike in network traffoc

Normally my server that houses less than 50 hosting accounts hover around 1mbps to 2mbps of traffic.
Today it suddenly spiked (im using the MRTG my provider gave me) to 8mbps and jamed up the network
No matter how i look around, i cant seem to find the cause. Is there anyway to see individual account current network usage?
or is there anyone who can help me?

There are stats about each user. You might have to go to user level to see them though. There are also stats from awstats or webalizer too. If you go to list users in admin level you can sort by bandwidth used too.

You might want to searc /var/log/ for fast growing logs (check sizes over several hours, and then check the contents of those logs.
