spoof/test domain name to test vhost settings

I've been playing around with some complex virtual host code with directadmin and I've been having some problem with it before.
I'm about to point my domain name to the new server that has this code configured, but I would like to test it first.
I can test most of the site using the http://85.xx.xxx.xxx/~admin/ address but it doesn't test the virtual host code that I wrote specifically for one domain name.
Is there any way I could go to the address above and spoof the domain name so that the server will think the request is from the actual domain?
I've looked at some firefox plugin for spoofing but its only for referrer spoofing: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4513?id=4513

Change your hosts file on your own computer to point that domain to the new ip address. Where its located depends on which operating system you are using. Search google.
