You should be able to; DA won't care.

However note that if a plugin requires procmail you're on your own, since DA doesn't use procmail, and it's not installed by default.

You may also run into other problems since not all software that plugins require are installed. For instance, the quota usage bar plugins will not work because the mail system is not setup to do quotas the way the plugin checks them.
