With Squirrelmail there is installed a perl script that allows you over root ssh to change virtually everything in SquirrelMail.

In a root session in Debain without DA installed you can just type squ<tab> to start the script but it seems that once DA is installed you have to cd to the Squirrelmail folder, on my system it resides at /var/www/html/squirrelmail-1.4.15

Once in the Squirrelmail folder if you type ./configure to start the script.

Or you can just type /var/www/html/squirrelmail-1.4.15/./configure and that will start the script as well.

I prefer Roundcube and I hope that in further releases of DA it becomes default and that admin has the choice of which webmail to use, I think that offering 3 is overkill :)

Anyway in the configuration script menu you will be able to completly customise SquirrelMail, add or remove plugins, change webmail title and logo etc etc without breaking it. Although when you add plugins it is better if you check them one at a time to see if they are working ok and not causing a problem.

Some screenshots of the various options can be seen here http://www.welshweb.net/squirrelmail_configuration.html.

It's important that you save your changes before you change menu and before you finally quit.

Hope this helps.

4 at the moment :) You forgot about Atmail. It's possible to disable any of them. E.g. if you don't have /var/www/html/atmail and /var/www/html/roundcube - it will just show SquirrelMail and UebiMiau.

I'd suggest not ever removing a webmail program from DirectAdmin because no matter how tired the interface, there will always be some users who are used to it and don't want to change.

Additionally, some users of UebiMiau who use webmail folders will lose email if they have to switch; while all the other webmail programs use standard IMAP and can access all folders (though not always without configuration), the DirectAdmin UebiMiau installation uses proprietary folders.

Personally I think it's dangerous to allow autocompletion on any program running in the main system webroot. Obviously other developers do as well; I've never heard of using autocompletion to configure squirrelmail; and I consider it dangerous.

I guess Debian people like to live dangerously :).

I checked, and this does work in CentOS distributions as well; probably all, so I've moved the thread to the How-To Guides section and edited your first paragraph.

By the way, you don't need that "/./" in your path. It's harmless, but not necessary.
