Squirrelmail inbox ERROR

When i'm logging in to squirrelmail I receive this message.

ERROR:
ERROR: Could not complete request.
Query: SELECT "INBOX"
Reason Given: SELECT failed: Can't open INBOX (file /var/spool/virtual/edwinhauwert.nl/mail): not in valid mailbox format



I can't read my mail, please help me what could i do to read them?

Are you the system administrator? If so you should log in through the shell, and then su to your root account.

Then look at the file at:

/var/spool/<domainname>/<username>

where <domainname> needs to be replaced by your domain name (for me it would be nobaloney.net) and username needs to be replaced by the name of the email user account (for me it might be directadmin).

Each email should start with a line similar to this:

From [email protected] Sun Aug 07 09:22:55 2005

If the first line of the files doesn't start with this, then it's not a valid mailbox format.

In that case, you'd have to find the first line that looks similar to the above, starting with "From " (the space IS mandatory; lines beginning with "From:" or ">From" don't count) and delete all the lines above it.

You should turn off smtp from the DA web-based interface before you start editing the file, because otherwise any email coming in to the account while you're doing the editing will be lost. Don't forget to turn SMTP back on when you're done.

I'm just the maker of the website and i would like to read my mails, My provider is nog giving any respons.

About the only thing I can think of would be to try using webmail, and then delete all the emails after you've read them.

If that doesn't work, then I don't know how to do it without getting your provider involved.
