Hello all

I have a weird current issue on SSL install...
To start with :
https://www.autovalley.fr

Under Chrome, FF4, IE9, no problem, SSL certificat is seen correctly, green bar enabled, Correct information taken.

Under FF3, IE6,7,8, we have a certificate error, pointing to Server's localhost self signed certificate. Accepting certificate navigates correctly to the SSL files...

Installation made as indicated through site-helper install guide, and SSL information pointing correctly under user's httpd.conf. IP used is unique, assigned only to the planned user (else chrome IE and FF would not show green bar). Httpd.conf contains both ip's (server shared + new IP) and visitors point correctly to local files.

What could explain that servers certificat gets loaded at occasion under server's root certificat instead of client's loaded certificate ?

Thanks for your kind return...

I'm sure your client, having paid for the best grade of Certificate, expects it to work on all browsers. The Cert works fine for me, and probably works fine for all new visitors.

I'm certain that barring some very bizarre behavior from Apache, not reported elsewhere), the same credentials are presented to all browsers.

My guess is that the problem is some kind of cacheing error in the browsers.

I'd suggest calling GeoTrust support and telling them of the problem. Point out if the Certificate doesn't work on some browsers while it does on others, you'll ask them to revoke it and refund your money. It's a bit of money to lose, so they'll probably figure out the answer better than we can :).

It actually sounds like your missing the chained certificate which most certificates today require. The newer browsers have the chain but the older ones are missing them. You should check if your certificate requires a chained cert and if you have it installed properly.

Poster kevinb may very well be right. However it seems a bit weirder than that. When I use the latest firefox browser it works fine showing the complete certificate chain, but when I try it on the konqueror browser the error I get is that it's seeing the localhost certificate, which makes no sense at all.

I still recommend checking with GeoTrust customer support.
