[Wed Jul 13 16:43:41 2005] [error] OpenSSL: error:14094412:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:sslv3 alert bad certificate [Hint: Subject CN in certificate not server name or identical to CA!?]

Hopefully someone can enlighten me.

Terry,

Do you own or rent your own server, or are you the customer of a hosting company?

How did you get the certificate? Did you buy it from a Certificate Authority, or did you create it yourself?

If you've created the cert yourself, you'll always get that error. You need to buy a cert from an authority recognized by your browser to avoid seeing that error.

If you have, then you haven't installed it properly; you should ask your certificate vendor for instructions or check the DirectAdmin instructions here.

If you need to buy a cert to resolve this issue you might want to check the thread here.

The prices in that thread are for dealer sales; if you're a site owner who needs a cert for your own site you should buy a cert from your hosting company or as a DA user you may buy it from any cert vendor you find here on these forums or elsewhere; if you wish to buy from us you may contact us by email (address below in my sig) for more information.

yes, I purchased a certificate from a certificate authority. Yes, it is coming up like a self signed. I use a hosting company. In the past I have had my own server, but got tired of fighting the virus so I figured this was easier. Maybe not.

Contact the company you bought the cert from for help with the install. All cert companies I know of offer support and reissue if you make an error during the install process.

Yes, I did contact them, yesterday, they gave me a different cerfiticate. No go, so I have emailed them back.
