Staging a new site

I'm migrating from a provider's DA setup to my own. I have data copied over to my system, but I have no way to test the site to see if it works before I cut over DNS. Each site is using the system's shared IP.

Any way to test this before doing a cutover?

Or temporary edit the windows host file to the new IP? That's what I do.

That is what I do as well. Its the best way to make sure everything works. From what I hear there are some things that will not work with apache userdir.
