stange entry proftpd access logs?

Hi all,

Had a couple of strange entries in the proftpd access logs:

118.193.31.179 UNKNOWN - [28/Aug/2017:22:31:25 +0100] "

"
" 500 -
118.193.31.179 UNKNOWN - [28/Aug/2017:22:31:25 +0100] "À/À+À'À#ÀÀ" 500 -

AND

116.255.204.2 UNKNOWN - [27/Aug/2017:15:49:30 +0100] "DELE .ico" 530 0

I've not been able to find much on it, and I was wondering if there is actually an issue and someone has got in to the server maliciously? I don't recognize the IPs!

Don't worry about it.
Error 500 is permission denied. Combined with the last line with the error 530 (login incorrect) somebody is trying to get into the server and/or trying to send commands to the server via the login credentials. Hence the 500 and 530.

What does "very dim" mean? I'm not English, I'm not familiar with that expression.
