Strange Exim problem with '.' in email address

All email accounts that contain periods are not being stored in the /var/spool/virtual/domain.com directory.

They appear to make it to the server without any problems - autoresponder is actually sent out - however they don't are not being stored in that directory above to be viewable from webmail, or downloadable using outlook.

How do I fix this?

Hello,

Add a line called "unseen" to the "userautoreply:" section of your /etc/exim.conf. You can also accomplish this by just getting the latest exim.conf:

wget -O /etc/exim.conf http://files.directadmin.com/services/exim4.conf
service exim restart

I don't think it has anything to do with the dot in the email, just that line.
