Hi,

This is my first post, I came across this through the package I bought of a reseller, looks like a lot of good information is available here.

There are a lot of threads on this, however mainly for people who have full access to the server and I don't :(

I have a similar issue to this thread >>

http://www.directadmin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29777&highlight=subdomain

unfortunately there was no resolution,

I am having a similar issue,

For example, the domain is creativerobots.co.uk

I have created a subdomain, thus being darren.creativerobots.co.uk

The http request fails, however, if you try creativerobots.co.uk/darren it works.

I can ping creativerobots.co.uk but not darren.creativerobots.co.uk

Any ideas?

:)

Thanks in advanced,

Gabi.

Your dns is not being hosted on your server. You have dns set up on a server somewhere else. You need to add the dns entry for darren.creativerobots.co.uk on the servers that handle dns for you.

Floyd,

You are totally correct.

My DNS is done by my domain provider and I am not using the DNS from the hosting company.

Spot on.

Thanks for pointing out what I should have realised.

:)

This is another case where having the actual domain was very important instead of using example.com. I hope everybody reads this.
