Subdoman Question

Hello,

I have a quick question regarding the creation of subdomains. I have my own server with DA installed. I have no problems creating subdomains on a specific domain. However I have a problem with the finished product.

For example I was trying to setup a subdomain

demo.transitblog%er.com (the % = g)

I wanted to use it as a practice site for when I make changes to the main site. However whenever I would type in demo.transitblog%er.com, I would get a page not found. If I typed in www.demo.transitblog%er.com it would work & show the premade .index page. When I would delete that index page so I could put my own stuff there & enter www.demo.transitblog%er.com, it automatically redirects to the main site.

I don't want it to redirect to the main site at all as this is its own site you can say. I would like it to work by just going to lets say demo.transitblog%er.com

What do I have to do exactly to get it to work the way I would like.

You didn't tell us the exact error, so it's hard to tell what's wrong.

You also didn't tell us if you created the subdomain as a subdomain or as a standard domain, and if as a standard domain if it's on the same server as the main domain.

All of these could be an issue, but the first thing to check is your DNS. When I try nslookup on the subdomain, both with and without the www, I get a DNS lookup error:

server can't find www.demo.transitblogger.com: NXDOMAIN
