I wanted to note I was able to fully binary upgrade FreeBSD 12.1 > 12.2. I had to restart DA but that could be because I wasn't patient enough. I am now running build all. to see how that goes.

Out of curiosity, is that a Major upgrade for Freebsd then? Because it seems small. Compared to for example Centos 8.5 to 8.6 there is nothing special like a build all needed. Because it's a minor upgrade. From 7 to 8 would be major.
Does Freebsd have different version interpretations then?

Major upgrade for Freebsd
No, Its like 8.5 > 8.6 Major would 11 > 12. To go from 12.1 to 12.2 is about 9000 patches not sure how that relates to CentOS.

I am only doing build all to makes sure it works. Mostly related to all the FreeBSD improvements and testing I have been working on with John. See this post https://forum.directadmin.com/threads/freebsd-12-1-setup-testing.62750/post-324407
The setup.sh needed help for it to work correctly so I volunteered to help. I hope DA goes on supporting FreeBSD. I want to use it on a lot of my boxes.

Not really. Its similar. https://www.freebsd.org/releases/
They do support a Source build and Binary build. The Source tree is called Ports the Binary build tool is called PKG its like Yum or Apt.
