synchronising DA data with users/domains on the box

I noticed that sometimes, after inserting a new user with domain, the gui does not respond as it should (times out). The result is that the user is made, the domain is made, but the gui does not report the user or website.

So the question here is: Is it possible to synchronise the GUI with the actual users/domains on the box ?

Hello,

You're aiming to let DirectAdmin read your server configuration files (httpd.conf, named.db, etc.) and then populate this data in DA itself? That is, you'd be synchronizing DA with your server.

No, sorry; DA can't do that yet. You can, however, manually edit DA's own configuration files.

User data files: /usr/local/directadmin/data/users/*
(I think there is a domains.list file in each user directory.)

And actually, I _think_ DA gets its list of domains for the DNS function from /etc/named.conf, or on FreeBSD /etc/namedb/named.conf. Not sure on that though.

Good luck.

How often is DA timing out when you add a new user? Is anything showing up in DA's error logs?

While adding a user I've had DA timeout once on a RH9 box, and never on RHEL.

I had it twice now on a fedora core2 machine. And it's our first demo/test machine but we are planning to sell machines with DA on it, So better to get it working first :)
