and never has. Well at least on this one server I am admin of. Directadmin in general lacks in backup and especially remote backups. But here is the issue, we are trying to use the system backup to simply backup the mysql dbs and ftp them to our nas. Simple enough eh? Wrong. It just dont work no matter what different options and configurations we choose.

I had talked the customer into buying directadmin soley to use for the backup features, there is only one site on the box and it turns out its not even fulfilling itself there.

Anyway. Here is what it does. Sometimes after running the backup it will make out a log, even showing it conencting to ftp and sending the backups but it does not. I have watched it from netstat it doesnt even try to connect I dont know what the deal is.

As you can see from this screenshot all settings are in order. Basically what I been having to do is go in the local backup directory and ftp them myself. There is nothing wrong with the nas.

And here is what it said today, which is the 21st of decemeber

Performing sanity checks: backup already performed for 12-19-07 (/home/backup//12-19-07), aborting...
Performing cleanup operations: Completed

Why in the heck would it do that?

Now if I am totally missing something here and doing it wrong I apologize for wasting everyones time but this thing just dont work for us, we have tried literally everything.

Does the system backup even work?

We would use the admni backup or reseller backup but it is not even capable of doing incremental backups so its not possible, there is a lot of files and data to backup. We are using a thrid party script to backup the files to the NAS. We just need something to get the dbs.

Any help would be appreciated

ermm, is directadmin just using the rfx networks sysbk? thats what it looks like from looking at crontab

With changes, yes. And if the FTP fails, it fails. You should try an ftp by hand to the same server.

There are other backup options. See the link in the previous post to mine.

thats what I said in the first post. I have been manually uploading to the server.
Cant use other options because they are not incremental and the site files is over 5-10 gb. So just need to do simple mysql backups
